Dr. Andrea Thorn is awarded the Max von Laue Prize

In recognition of her work on improved analysis of diffraction data of macromolecular crystals and recognition of structural elements of biological macromolecules in electron cryo-microscopy maps using neural networks, Dr Thorn has been awarded the Max von Laue Prize 2022.

The German Society for Crystallography (DGK) gives this price annually to reward outstanding scientific work by young scientists in the field of crystallography.

The prize was awarded at the DGK annual meeting. Although the meeting took place virtually, the prize was handed over personally in the new research building HARBOR by Dr. Manfred Weiss of the Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin and Dr. Manuel Hinterstein of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
